Hotel info is now available on the MW*C website (www.mediawestcon.org), along with a link to making a reservation request online.
Once again, MediaWest*Con 39 will be held at the Lansing Ramada, which ranked very highly in our survey as to what is important in a host hotel.
Carol Lynn will continue as MW*C Hotel Liaison, and will coordinate all member reservations with Ramada. Members may make reservations with other hotels directly.
All reservation requests will be done online (there is no paper form). Reservation requests are sent directly to the hotel as well as to Carol so we may confirm memberships. Once both membership and reservations are confirmed, Carol will send confirmations to the members submitting the requests. If you are unable to use the online form, contact Carol and she will assist you. (firstname.lastname@example.org)
At current membership levels, everyone should be able to get a room in Ramada that wishes to.
(NOTE: Carol Lynn will be away at Pennsic from July 25 to August 12th, but will send confirmations for that period as soon as she returns.)
Ramada is removing all the bed risers, and expects to have that done for MW*C 38.
The airport shuttle is complimentary, but they need to have your flight info at least 2 weeks before arrival (no later than Thursday, May 10th).
Cost for shuttle outside a 5 mile radius will be $30 round trip per shuttle load to same destination (not per person), so if you organize trips you can save money.
Those members wanting free airport shuttle pick-up need to schedule your arrival time with Ramada by May 11.
MW*C 36 hotel reservation request procedure and forms are now available on the MW*C website (www.mediawestcon.org).
As expected, MediaWest*Con 36 has signed contracts for Ramada Lansing and Comfort Inn. Ramada will be the default hotel, with the Comfort Inn next door as overflow. We hope to have the reservation process in place soon.
Carol Lynn will continue as MW*C Hotel Liaison, and member reservations will go through her. This is the only way we can be assured of getting properly credited for rooms reserved in the host hotel, which is what pays for much of the expense of putting on MW*C. It also assures that only MW*C 36 members will be getting into our room block, thereby helping reduce the possibility of conflicts with mundanes.
Our apologies for the many delays. We would also like things to have gone more efficiently and had everything in place sooner, but real life of late has been anything but convenient.
For those who are curious about the Days Inn next door which was closed during MW*C 35, the furnishings and fixtures were auctioned off in September, and this week the building was used for firefighter training! It has been reported that the new owners plan to demolish the building and rebuild with a new hotel and shops.
From Ramada website:
Please Note: Our pool will be closed effective May 26 until June 1, 2014. It will be open for use on June 2. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
Rooms are still available in Ramada! If you haven’t gotten a membership because you didn’t think you could get in the host hotel, think again!
Membership deadline has been extended to May 10.
